I was diagnosed metastatic at initial diagnosis. Never saw it coming. I had just had a mammogram two months before that never revealed the cancer.
Since being diagnosed and starting treatment, which was a clinical trial that has since been approved by the FDA, I live in the moment, not questioning why or how this could have happened. Those questions won't change my diagnosis. I advocate and educate as much as possible about MBC and the need for more research and treatments. The importance of patients enrolling in clinical trials is imperative to bringing new treatments to all of us, so I encourage that whenever possible.
I want people to know that although I may not look sick, I am living with a cancer that currently has no cure. My treatments will never end. I will have good days and bad days. My "finish line" is when my body no longer responds to treatments that are available today. So I live a very blessed and grateful life surrounded my beautiful grandchildren, family and friends having adventures that many take for granted.
