"More awareness of metastasized cancer needs to be available. I never even heard of MBC until I had it.”

I was originally diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in 2011. I made it six years when I noticed pain in what I thought was my kidney (I do have a kidney disorder). My family doctor found nothing, and he sent me to my urologist. My urologist reluctantly did a CT scan, and the report said the kidney was in as good of shape as ever. I had to ask him to read the rest of the report because he clearly wasn't going to. He finally said, "Oh, here's something...you have a mass on your L2.”

I knew instantly: it was cancer. A biopsy confirmed it. A PET scan then revealed a large tumor in my sternum, one in a hip and shoulder, and two additional ones in my back. I am now on my fourth treatment plan, and I have a total of nine bone Mets. I pray this treatment will be the one to control it for me.

The pain I have every day from cancer and the side effects of chemo are horrible. I have problems with my teeth and jaw, with exposed bone, peeling skin on my hands and feet, digestive issues, sleep issues, and depression and anxiety. But through all of that, I have hope. And with Metavivor, I have a great group of people dealing with this monster called cancer who support one another, and advocate for funding for treatment research.

More awareness of metastasized cancer needs to be available. I never even heard of MBC until I had it. Love to all who have to deal with this, and prayers for a cure.
