"I want screenings to be done for women in their 30s.”

After months of not feeling well, I was finally diagnosed on June 1, 2018. I don't have any family history, and genetic testing was also negative. I didn't have any of the common risk factors and never imagined I would ever hear the words my doctor said when finding out my biopsy results: metastatic breast cancer.

Having triple negative breast cancer, it's one of the most aggressive and fastest-spreading types to have. Luckily, it has only spread to localized lymph nodes in my arm and chest (and possibly another small area in my abdomen). Women are not routinely screened for this via mammograms until we are 40. I want screenings to be done for women in their 30s. So many women I know have breast cancer that are less than 40.
