“Cancer writers need to be more aware to avoid making sweeping generalizations.”

2019 Story

I was diagnosed with incurable Stage IV Gleason 9 prostate cancer de novo in 2015. I had a RALRP and later went on ADT, but, last year became refractory. Now, on top of dealing with that, I’ve been diagnosed with Medication-Related OsteoNecrosis of the Jaw because of the bone strengthener I was given for only two years.

I’m grateful to have the opportunity to put my affairs in order and to spend time with my new granddaughters, and other loved ones. I have read so much information on prostate cancer that has zero relevance to my situation. Luckily, I’m conversant with medical terms and, most of the time, can decipher what doesn’t apply to me. Cancer writers need to be more aware to avoid making sweeping generalizations.
